Jesus Is Coming Back to Judge the World: A Call to Be Ready
The return of Jesus Christ is one of the most profound and sobering truths in the Christian faith. Scripture is clear: the same Jesus who once came in humility to save will one day return in glory to judge. His first coming was marked by mercy, grace, and redemption; His second will be marked by justice, truth, and final authority.
The Promise of His Return
Before Jesus ascended to heaven, angels declared to His disciples, “This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go” (Acts 1:11). Throughout the New Testament, believers are reminded to live with the expectation of His return. Jesus Himself said, “Behold, I am coming soon” (Revelation 22:12).
His coming is not a myth or a distant idea — it is a divine promise. God’s Word cannot fail, and the return of Christ is as certain as His resurrection.
The Purpose of His Return
When Jesus returns, He will come not as the suffering Savior but as the righteous Judge and King. The Bible says, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:10). Every person — believer and unbeliever — will give an account of their life before Him.
For those who have trusted in Jesus, this judgment is not one of condemnation but of reward. They will enter into eternal joy with their Lord. But for those who have rejected Him, there will be judgment and separation from God forever (Matthew 25:31–46).
Jesus’ return will set right all wrongs, bring justice where there has been oppression, and establish His eternal kingdom where righteousness dwells.
Signs of His Coming
Jesus told His disciples about signs that would precede His return — wars, famines, earthquakes, and the increase of wickedness (Matthew 24). While no one knows the exact day or hour (Matthew 24:36), believers are called to recognize the times and remain spiritually awake.
The moral decay, unrest, and turmoil we see in today’s world remind us that His coming is nearer than ever. Each passing day brings us closer to that glorious moment when the heavens will open and the King of Kings will appear in power.
A Call to Readiness
Jesus repeatedly warned His followers: “Be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him” (Luke 12:40). The call to readiness is not a call to fear but to faithfulness.
Being ready means living a life that honors Christ — walking in love, holiness, and obedience. It means forgiving others, serving with humility, and sharing the gospel so that more may come to repentance before it’s too late.
The Hope of the Believer
For the faithful, the return of Jesus is not a dreadful event but a glorious hope. Paul wrote, “There is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day — and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing” (2 Timothy 4:8).
The day of His judgment will also be the day of our redemption’s completion — when every tear will be wiped away and we will dwell with Him forever.
Conclusion
Jesus is coming back to judge the world in righteousness. His return will be sudden, certain, and glorious. The time for repentance and preparation is now. Let us live each day with our hearts fixed on Him, our lamps burning bright, and our lives reflecting His love.
As Revelation 22:20 declares: “He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’ Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
